The Fallen Soldier's Healer

During our infamous Civil War, if one was a battlefield soldier and badly, wounded, one might lay bleeding and in pain for days on the battlefield before medical help could come to help. Many men died waiting for their critical medical treatment. Our American history has many unsung heroes who never received their proper recognition. One of these was a man who devoted his life and personal safety to being there for his wounded soldiers. His name was Jonathan Letterman; he was called; The Father of Battlefield Medicine and served as: Civil War Surgeon. He was credited with creating the army’s very first ambulance corps. It was also he who instituted the first organized system for a battlefield first-aid station and the mobile field hospital, which provided wounded soldiers their life-saving medical treatments. Seven For America salutes all who serve in our military. We recognize all, and we honor them all. God bless our men and women who serve!
